After an automated update has failed, you may get the following across the top of the Admin Dashboard even if a manual upgrade was successful.
“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”
To remedy this, set your ftp program to show hidden files and delete the “.maintenance” file in the root directory. Refresh the page and the notice should be gone.
