Install Oracle Linux 8.5 On VMware
In this tutorial, we are using VMware Workstation 16 Player to create a Virtual Machine and installing Oracle Linux 8.5 as the operating system. The host machine is running Windows 10 Pro.
Download VMware and Oracle Linux 8.5 form the links below.
I highly recommend you create a new document in NotePad++ or your favorite text editor. Make notes based on the information below so you will have a reliable document showing exactly how you created your Virtual Machine.
For this tutorial we will be using the local ip address 192.168.1.140.
Now lets get started
Open VMware Workstation 16 Player and select Create a New Virtual Machine.
Browse to the path of the Oracle 8 iso you previously downloaded and click Next.
Enter the virtual machine name and where you want to install the virtual machine.
Specify disk capacity and click Next.
Click on Customize Hardware.
Adjust the memory used for this virtual machine.
Click on Network Adapter and select Bridged. Click Close.
Click Finish.
You are now ready to install CentOS 7. Arrow up and hit Enter to begin the installation.
Set language desired and click Continue.
.Click on Installation Destination.
Make sure the correct drive is checked and click Done.
Now you will setup the networking. On the INSTALLATION SUMMARY, click on Network & Hostname. Click on Configure.
Click on IPV4 Settings. Click the down arrow on Method and choose Manual. Click Add and fill in the network settings you desire. Click Save.
ON should be highlighted. Change the Host Name and click Apply. Click Done.
On the INSTALLATION SUMMARY, click on Date & Time. Make necessary changes and click Done.
On the INSTALLATION SUMMARY, click Begin Installation. Click on Root Password.
Enter the Root Password and Confirm then click Done.
On the INSTALLATION SUMMARY Page click on USER CREATION.
Complete this form as necessary and click Done. Be sure to check Make this user administrator. This is the user with sudo privileges you will use later.
Now click on Begin Installation.
When the system completes installation, click Reboot.
The virtual machine will Reboot and you will be presented with a login.
You can now move to another system on the network and use Putty to manipulate the new virtual machine.
Done. You are now ready to start the AMP installation with the user you added earlier if you made them an administrator.
